Chlorinated pesticide poisoning is characterized by neurological abnormalities, including general weakness, muscle jerking, and emotional changes. Exposure to chlorinated pesticides at high concentrations may lead to unconsciousness and death. Chlorinated pesticides are used in both agricultural and household environments. Recently, chlorinated pesticides have fallen under governmental regulations due to their persistence in the environment and potential for promoting health hazards. This blood test checks you for the presence of chlorinated pesticides, such as DDT. This test checks for BHC-alpha isomer; BHC-beta isomer; cis-chlordane; dieldrin; endrin; heptachlor epoxide; heptachlor; hexachlorobenzene (HCB); lindane; o,p´-DDD; o,p´-DDE; o,p´-DDT; p,p´-DDD; p,p´-DDE; p,p´-DDT; and trans-chlordane. DDD and DDE are both metabolites of DDT. Oxychlordane is a metabolite of chlordane. Heptachlor is a constituent of chlordane, and heptachlor epoxide is a metabolite of heptachlor.
